Opportunities Through Program

The REU Program in Molecular Biosciences at Colorado State University provides participants the following opportunities:IMG_0971brtnd

• Use of state-of-the-art techniques and instrumentation including fluorescence and confocal microscopy, X-ray crystallography, mass spectroscopy, patch-clamping and more

• Possibility of publishing results in peer-reviewed scientific journals

• Funds for some participants to attend a national scientific conference to present their results

• Full participation in the lab of a faculty mentor in the following (and possibly other) departments:

  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
  • Animal Sciences07016_00177med
  • Biology
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences
  • Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology

• Meeting weekly with other REU participants to exchange information and discuss their research

• Networking with REU alumni from prior years

• Field trips to and guest speakers from biotechnology companies and government labs

• Informal evening and weekend social, recreational, and cultural events with program participants and faculty

• Present a final report and poster of your research to all participants and faculty mentors21076_03949med

• Optional whitewater rafting and hiking trips (costs borne by the participants)
