Dr Lori Banks, Asst Professor at Prairie View A&M University will be presenting her research, entitled, “The Structure of Evil: Structural and Biochemical Basis for Rotavirus NSP4 Viroporin Activity” in MRB 312 on Monday April 21 at 10am.
Science – Dr Banks works on chemical biology focusing on drug design and drug synthesis using microbial pathways as a tool. She also has a student beer brewing biochemistry/microbiology program.
Outreach – Lori does a lot of work on mentoring Black scientists and the specific challenges they face. She organizes a summer research program. She teaches a very cool class on empowering students to change their internal “stories” using Afrofuturistic science fiction.
